AFFRM and Reelblack, in association with PhillyCAM, will host a special introduction to the work of Sundance Award-winning cinematographer BRADFORD YOUNG this Wednesday Aprill 11 from 6:30-8pm.
Selections from his body of work will be screened--including clips from the AFFRM release RESTLESS CITY, which will open at the AMC Loews Cherry Hill on May 4. To be followed by a Q&A moderated by Philly artist and filmmaker MAORI KARMAEL HOLMES (SCENE NOT HEARD).
BRADFORD YOUNG (Cinematographer)
Bradford Young graduated from Howard University, where he studied under the tutelage of filmmaker Haile Gerima.
In addition to RESTLESS CITY, Young’s cinematography credits include Middle of Nowhere, Mississippi Damned, Entre Nos and Pariah, for which he earned the 2011 Sundance Film Festival’s Excellence in Cinematography Award for U.S. Dramatic Competition. Middle of Nowhere won the Best Direction prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival for writer/director (and AFFRM founder) Ava DuVernay.
Bradford was cited as one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” in 2009.
